Just a Thought

Owl and Girl

“Creativity is just connecting things. When you ask creative people how they did something, they feel a little guilty because they didn’t really do it, they just saw something. It seemed obvious to them after a while.” -Steve Jobs

There are so many things in life that require at least a little bit of creativity. From the songs to teach children how to tie shoes to architecture to designing a new part to figuring out how to get animals to work with you rather than against you (😅), each task requires some level of creativity, and it's not a well that runs dry when you pull water out.

In fact, creativity is more like a muscle. The more you use it, the stronger it gets. BUT the strength may not always look the same. So really, creativity is like multiple muscles. It can squat, lift, hold up, walk, twist, and do ALL of the things. 😉

Yet, when we try to get "more creative," what do we do? Do we try to read, try to learn from others, try to think it through more? Well, let's think about that tactic. When we want to build physical muscles, how do we do that? We use them!

Creative muscles are just as important (and they might save you from having to use so much physical muscle), and building them works the same. You have to use them through practice, challenges, and games that will build them up and keep them strong.

Don't be upset when someone figures out a creative way to do something faster or seemingly better than you. It just means they've been putting in the practice to get strong. Use that to motivate you to put those creative muscles to use! 💪
